Robot Actress Geminoid F Debuts in Japan
Robotics: Science X-Seti, Meeting a life like Robot is a dream for me, Looking around the net finding this today just blows me away.

Nov 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The acting debut of a life like robot in Japan has received terrific reviews from the audience, but not so much from its co-star. The Geminoid F is a copy of a woman around the age of twenty, with long brown hair, and brown eyes. It can smile or frown, and played the part in a stage show featuring the story of a woman who was suffering from an illness which would kill her.

The robot actress was said to have had a calm voice that was a bit mechanical. The show, Sayonara, or Goodbye was directed by Oriza Hirata, a Japanese director, at the Tokyo Art Festival, and featured the robot actress alongside a human actress, American Bryerly Long. She didnt seem really thrilled by the experience, and stated, I kind of feel like I'm alone on stage. There is a bit of distance [and not] a human presence.

Japanese hospitals test robotic nurse Actroid-F

Some Japanese hospitals are testing a robotic nurse called Actroid-F.

Actroid-F, which is the handiwork of Kokoro, looks so real that the Guinness World Record has tagged it as the first true android.

The robotic nurse is meant to provide patients a heightened sense of security as they spend some time on their hospital beds. The robot is pleasant looking and they only sit beside the patient as the patient undergoes various tests in the hospital.

The maker of the robot, Kokoro has done a great job on the robot and with the exception of its plastic looking skin; the machine proves that it is just a matter of time that the androids are here with us.

It is hoped the job of nurses are not taken over by these robots. As it is developed further, lets hope this can only consolidate the work of the human nurses and not come to add to the high unemployment rate the world is seeing.

Other than that factor, the Actroid-F is welcomed into our planet and lets hope it develops to do more than it has been designed to do and give more patients the needed support and companionship they need on their hospital bed.

The director stated, It wont be that a robot replaces human beings on a drama stage, its more as if a new type of actor has emerged in the theatrical world.

The android actually plays the part of an android. Ms Longs character is suffering from the illness, and the robot recites poetry to the dying girl, after being hired by her parents to be her caregiver. The parents then abandon the girl, leaving her to the androids care.
